On the Air with 2 Hall of Famers
Born and raised in Bismarck, Richard Torrance grew up with music in his blood. In the early 1970s, he packed up his dreams and headed to Southern California, chasing a future in rock and roll. That leap paid off—he soon found himself touring the country and sharing stages with legends like Little Feat, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, and more.

Years later, Torrance returned home to North Dakota, where he continues to make music as part of Jennifer Lyn and the Groove Revival. His passion and dedication to his craft have never waned, and on Sunday, September 28th, he was officially inducted into the North Dakota Music Hall of Fame—a well-deserved honor for a truly remarkable career.

Before his induction, Justin had the privilege of sitting down with Richard on Dakota Produce Live! to talk about his incredible journey through music. You can catch that full conversation below!

Justin recently had the pleasure of also sitting down with the legendary Chuck Suchy on Dakota Produce LIVE! — a rare opportunity to talk with one of North Dakota’s most beloved musical storytellers.

A folk singer-songwriter and working farmer from the Mandan area, Chuck has spent decades crafting heartfelt songs that celebrate rural life, community, and the quiet beauty of the Great Plains. He has been officially recognized by the North Dakota Council on the Arts as the state’s Troubadour, a title that reflects both his artistry and his deep connection to North Dakota culture.

During the interview, Chuck reflected on how the music landscape has evolved over the years. “It used to be that you had to go to live venues just to hear music,” he noted. “Now, it’s everywhere — streaming, online, on the radio.” Despite the changes, he expressed deep gratitude for local stations like Radio Access, which continue to provide a platform for regional artists and help preserve the state’s musical heritage.
