Mary Tello-Pool, volunteer host of this Is…Public Health Central Dakota, has been an active volunteer in the Bismarck-Mandan community for over 40 years. She has served as a board member for several national, state, and local non-profit organizations, as well as chairman for numerous fund-raising events. She currently serves as a board member for the Bismarck Mandan Symphony League, the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counselor Examiners, and Bridging the Dental Gap.
Mary has been involved in disaster preparedness and response for 13 years and is a member of the West Dakota Chapter Red Cross Disaster Action Team. She is currently employed in the Emergency Preparedness and Response section of the North Dakota Department of Health.
Mary has worked in the nursing profession for 38 years and is a nurse volunteer for the American Red Cross Nurse Corps as well as the North Dakota Medical Reserve Corps. She is an American Red Cross certified instructor for several disaster and health/safety courses.

– Mary has been a licensed Private Investigator for 14 years.
– Her greatest contributions to society are her two daughters, Christina a physician and Deanna a wildlife biologist. Mary is married to Dr. Duane Pool, a Science Coordinator for the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory.
– Her pets include: Budda, Caesar, Zeke, Allie, and Sunny.
