Germans from Russia Oral History Interviews

Video interviews with residents or former residents of the Emmons, Logan, and McIntosh Counties area settled by Germans from Russia. These interviews focus on how families fed themselves in a time before or shortly after electricity was available to farms.

These stories, memories and recipes about canning, cooking, collecting cow chips, threshing and more are heartwarming and tear-jerking at the same time. The interviews were collected with funds from a grant from the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
